So this morning as I sat down at my desk I looked at this flyer I have from Joyce Meyer…. 6 ways to Change my Words in areas of my life…. one of the areas is relationships and the corresponding scripture is Romans 12:18
If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.
The scripture is very clear that we should be trying to live at peace with everyone… it doesn’t say be best friends with everyone, or have the greatest relationship with everyone but simply live at peace. I’d define that as no tension, no bitterness, jealousy and envy… just pure, decent, communication with people.
It also says EVERYONE… so that’s not just the people you get along with, not just family or friends, or classmates or co-workers but EVERYONE. So YES that’s the person who’s personality doesn’t fit the best with yours, the person who lies, gossips, and hates on everyone, the person who hurt you… The key is that the verse says as far as it depends on you… so as long as YOU can create peace then you should be striving to live in peace with EVERYONE. Even if they’ve done wrong against our Bible tells us to live at peace with them.
Another piece of advice… Alot of times we get a peace within ourselves about a challenging person or situation, yet the moment we’re faced with that person/issue the truth is revealed and that peace we claimed to have is lost in our emotions. The same peace you say you have you need to act out toward that person…. be kind, respectable, and decent in your interactions – or quite frankly you’ll look like a hypocrite … proclaiming peace but your actions are perpetuating the problem.
This is a simple lesson that can settle alot of confusion and cause great maturity in you.
LIVE IN PEACE WITH EVERYONE!!!!!! Let that be the beginning and the end of the story 🙂
Have a great week – I’ll holla at yall later.
